Hamburger Hash Brown Casserole

Ground beef is a dinnertime staple. It’s not just versatile, but also an affordable option for family meals. Try this hamburger hash brown casserole if you’re looking to branch out. It’s a fun way to make deconstructed hamburgers. It’s an easy mashup recipe if you’re obsessed with cheeseburgers like me. I lean on it when I don’t have time to shape and grill patties or assemble burgers.

Make this hash brown hamburger casserole by using shredded hash brown potatoes as the base. Top them with a mix of ground beef and heaps of cheese. Add a bag of frozen mixed vegetables, brown gravy sauce, and fried onions. It’s the perfect dish for make-ahead meals on busy weeknights. And, like many of our favorite casserole recipes, it starts with a bag of frozen potatoes. That means less chopping and fewer dishes, which we can all appreciate!

Ingredients for Hamburger Hash Brown Casserole

  • Shredded hash browns: Use a bag of frozen shredded hash browns for quick meal prep. You don’t even have to thaw them since they’ll thaw in Step 1.
  • Ground beef: You can buy fresh ground beef, but this is also a great way to use up that pound of ground beef you’ve had sitting in your freezer. Make sure to thaw it before starting the recipe.
  • Canola oil: Saute the hash browns in canola oil to get them crispy. You can use olive oil or a high-heat oil like grapeseed oil instead.
  • Seasonings: Use freshly ground black pepper and garlic salt for simple flavoring.
  • Water: Water is used here to quickly hydrate the brown gravy mix.
  • Brown gravy mix: The brown gravy mix makes for a tasty and fast sauce in this casserole. If you prefer homemade gravy, try our foolproof gravy recipe and substitute that for the water and gravy mix.
  • Frozen mixed vegetables: Keep a bag of frozen mixed vegetables in your freezer for whenever you want to pack in the veggies without all the fuss of chopping and cooking them.
  • French-fried onions: I can never resist recipes that use french-fried onions. They bake into the top of this casserole with the cheese to make the most irresistible topping.
  • Cheddar cheese: Use sharp cheddar cheese for a little kick, and make sure to grate your own cheese for the best melt.

Corn Dog Casserole

A fun twist on the iconic state fair corn dog, this easy corn dog casserole is in and out of the oven in 30 minutes. Best of all, there’s no waiting in line.

A corn dog casserole is a homey way to mimic the flavor of that favorite fair food on a stick, without the fuss. The key ingredients are the same: hot dogs and a cornbread batter. Our corn dog casserole recipe includes a few more ingredients and skips the deep frying (and the stick) to create a family-friendly fare for casual mealtimes. Pair it with a side of roasted carrots and pop them in the oven at the same time.

This dish is also quick to disappear at potlucks. It’s hard to resist the cheesy, fluffy cornbread chunks of juicy hotdogs. Although we love the traditional flavor of all-beef hot dogs, feel free to use your favorite frank or sausage.

Corn Dog Casserole Ingredients

Corn Dog Casserole ingredients: Hot Dog, Milk, Cheese, Green Onion, Eggs, Pepper, Butter
Nicole Perry for Taste of Home
  • Butter: It does indeed make everything better. This recipe calls for it to be melted to saute the vegetables, adding a rich flavor.
  • Celery and green onions: The combination, gently cooked in butter until tender, adds a foundation of earthy flavor.
  • Hot dogs: For the best corn dog flavor, go for a high-quality beef hot dog.
  • Eggs: Not only do eggs help the batter rise, but they provide structure to keep the baked cornbread from crumbling to pieces.
  • Milk: The liquid adds moisture to create a thick and fluffy batter. We like 2% milk in this recipe, but nut milk works well, too.
  • Seasonings: Sage and pepper add boosts of savory flavors.
  • Cornbread/muffin mix: A corn dog casserole doesn’t taste the same without it! Cornbread/muffin mix is typically made with yellow cornmeal and is an easy-prep base for the batter.
  • Shredded sharp cheddar cheese: If you have a few extra minutes, grate your cheese. Packaged shredded cheese typically contains preservatives that make it a bit more difficult to melt.

Blueberry Cottage Cheese Breakfast Bake

Cottage cheese has become a popular and versatile ingredient for adding protein to various recipes. Cottage cheese mac and cheese, queso dip, eggy breakfast bakespasta sauces and even high-protein cookie dough all benefit from this cheap protein-rich ingredient. However, there’s a way to use cottage cheese in sweet breakfast recipes too, and this blueberry cottage cheese breakfast bake recipe is one of our new favorites.

This baked recipe with cottage cheese can be whipped up quickly when you need something tasty in a pinch, or it can be meal-prepped ahead of time and stored in the fridge for easy grabbing on busy mornings. To make it, all you have to do is whisk together simple ingredients to form the batter, pour the mixture into a baking dish, top with blueberries and bake. This easy breakfast recipe will be ready to dish up for any occasion in under an hour.

Ingredients for Blueberry Cottage Cheese Breakfast Bake

  • Cottage cheese: Cottage cheese provides moisture and a boost of protein in this breakfast bake.
  • Eggs: Three whole eggs are incorporated into the mixture to provide a fluffy base for this easy breakfast.
  • Rolled oats: Add rolled oats into the mix for a bit of texture. They also help soak up some of the additional moisture from the cottage cheese.
  • Milk: We use whole milk for this recipe, but you can easily swap in 2% if preferred.
  • Maple syrup: Sweeten this cottage cheese breakfast bake with a bit of maple syrup. For the best flavor, use pure maple syrup (pancake syrup is not the same as maple syrup!).
  • Vanilla extract: Enhance the flavor of this breakfast bake with a touch of vanilla extract.
  • Cinnamon: A small amount of cinnamon makes all the difference in enhancing the taste of this bake.
  • Salt: Just a pinch of salt goes a long way in balancing the sweet flavors in this blueberry cottage cheese breakfast bake recipe.
  • Blueberries: Add pops of juicy, fruity flavor throughout by stirring fresh blueberries into the mixture. Wash the berries and let them dry before getting started.
